I have noticed that users on sites that use a karma system similar to Reddit are afraid of expressing unpopular opinions due to fear of losing karma. Although one of the reasons for the inclusion of karma was to filter low-quality content, users will also downvote content that they disagree with. This is fine for some communities, but for subchans dedicated to long discussions, the karma system seems to limit discussions rather than to fuel them, unless only popular opinions are expressed. I would like to ask u/Cicero to, add the option to disable voting altogether when creating a subchan.

You can already disable comment voting in subchan settings. Also, anonymous posting doesn't affect your total karma. So you could just force anon posts and comments, or force anon posts and disable comment votes, or whatever.
I decided not to include a "Disable Submission Votes" option because it would go against the format of the website (high total score posts being more visible than low total score posts).
C'mon man, I made a whole /s/featurerequest sub for these posts.
Making subchannels is a spook, I tell you.
