How many of those clicks turned into users? this is what counts, If you want my advice I would say shill more on Reddit reply to each post and comment looking for Reddit alt, it will be time-consuming but more effective. Try to be smart about your shilling too, don't just copy and paste the link and say here is a Reddit alternative, check it out. Maybe hire a couple of people (will probably cost you less than advertising on 4chan) to shill for you.

It's true that first 4chan ad campaign didn't go super well, but the site back then (those 5-6 months ago) had very little content to keep new users afloat. I think it's much better now and thus more likely to actually draw few new folks here.

why debate changing the name if you're just going to do this?

There was a debate about changing the name? AFAIK Cicero said, that he will keep this name, due to the anon nature.
