Ever been in a rough financial spot and you get scared to look at your bank account?
That's how I feel about Mainchan. I know I should post here more to make the site more active, but it just makes me sad to see how little activity there is.
So instead I just work on features to improve the site. I'll be making an announcement about it soon, but as some of you can already see we now have GIFs in comments powered by Tenor, and soon we'll have images.
I'm waiting on the paid video sponsorships to come through, but other than that I'm not sure what else I can do.

You currently have a very small but dedicated userbase. There are about 3-4 users, who I see in almost every thread.
As for me I love this website since it has the 4chan freedom without every thread being littered with racist & antisemetic comments. It is nice that the different posts have meaningful discussions (if any) without someone sperging about the jews being the root of all evil.
The website is great and the only thing that is missing is users.
You have to recognise that there wont be an instant growth of users. It will slowly increase over time, if the website stays active.

what i hate about 4chan and /b/ specifically is that it is just filled with porn and RARELY any thread worth looking at
I never look at /b/ since its all porn,
but I do look at /g/. And its full of antisemetism, the mods and Jannies don't do anything about it, even though it is against the rules
I think you need to start focusing more on marketing. Look for paid ads on a popular site. Maybe add some sort of rewards badges or something like that for people who reached (100, 1000, 10000, …) Karma, name them something cool since you are into roman history name them after roman legion hierarchy. Or maybe hire a freelancer marketer.
Idk if it is the smartest move to hire ppl.
The posibility of Cicero making a lot of money of this page is almost zero, as advertisers dont like free speach or privacy. (See early 4chan)
And funding through donations is even harder. (See 4chan aswell lol) Not everybody has the money, even if they use the website dayly.

Or make users earn some sort of coin (Denarius) for every 10 karma and for 10 coins (Denarius) you can award a post with some sort of award
