I know we all have spent time just reading random jargon written by other users on different sites we browse. In due time one will pick up on all the lingo and interpersonal drama at play amongst the various comment sections and forums on the web. Is just at some point one has to ask, why do I care for what these people have to say?

When I first began using image boards, social media and any other site that let's you conect with total strangers online. I was one of these so called lurkers or passive scrollers (a term I was rather late to learn of). Now I can't stand reading or searching out people to speak on my own behalf.

I value my free time in a different way, that just reading without end becomes too much to bear. Even on Mainchan I'd rather make a quick post and leave than spend time scrolling.

Perhaps is a sign of changing interest, or the result of the modern Internet being so neutered and censored, but discussion and rants don't move me as much as before. I can't imagine joining a Discord or chat room, just to read what others have to say instead of contributing anything of worth. That is too boring for my taste these days.

By the way, most Mainchan users either created their account and have abandoned it, or decided that scrolling through the site and voting in posts is a better way to “interact”. This is another reason why I am against the karma system. In regular forums, people actually had to make a post in order to express their opinion. Now, all people have to do is click on a button.

True, the only the reason the rest use the karma system is to avoid getting booted off the front page by a single deticated hater. If Cicero really wants people to use the site, he should incentivise posting and discussion above karma hoarding. Nobody has even enough karam the join the content creator program, and besides without a big userbase no original content will be created in the first place.

Karma doesn’t even correlate with quality, and, since low-quality memes or videos gets upvoted the most, the front page is flooded with shitty posts when you sort by Top. The content creation program is also kind of weird because people will probably only use it to sell pornographic content.

Again, who will buy if nobody is on the site to sell too? Even nsfw artist still use twitter, since it least it has a active userbase. We are too small for that.

Most people think that creating content instead of simply consuming it is too hard. The reason why certain social media apps are popular with normies is because they require little user input and, instead, can provide the normies with unlimited addictive content.

I have seized engaging with social media beyond sharing family photos and keeping contact with those abroad. I used to post a lot on Quora, but even if I got in contact with some few decent people the site just soured my view of the modern Internet. People are being actively dumbed down by all the restrictions in place, and anybody you want ot reach out to is drowned out by the spew of garbage that gets reposted and shared.

Hell even Cierco exemplifies this problem, sharing vidoes from channels like SeeThzeetach instead of something more obsucre and worthwhile of becoming front paged.
