lol.
Wish for a way to import copy of reddit room to another site. Call it the copy/paste exodus.
Something tells me that would next super difficult if not impossible. It was more possible when the Reddit api was free and easy to use. Now you'd need to crawl a sub to index it or pay an enormous fee for API access. Then how do you import every post and comment here when we don't have the same users as Reddit? Make every post show up as written by a randomly generated fake user? Clone the accounts of all the Redditors who's posts you imported then message them on Reddit to say "come claim your cloned account?" Then's there the matter of all the legal trouble that whole thing would attract when Reddit comes suing the pants off Cicero for taking their data without paying.
I did some investigating into that and I'm not saying rip off others comments and posts. Each user of your room has an option to backup and delete their own stuff. What they do with it or how is the question. So it would have to be per room per individual cooperation.
So you're suggesting a system like Odysee.com has where they can one-click clone a person's Youtube channel for them? I think that'd still need API access for Reddit though.
Ok let's say as an example you have 5 users in redsux/r/one user and all five vote to leave the site. Each of the 5 can clone only their posts. Each of the five can bring their posts to the new site. I'm mot sure on the reconstitution of all the posts into the new room yet. But it is a plan. Note is left in the Redsux/r/oneuser room of new location for all that want to join after. Sure there is going to be API access if the mod of the room flat out clones it. But as individuals no charge is made for their owned posts.
Not a perfect plan by any means but if it takes off and another site is ready to receive rooms reddit could empty out of the disenfranchised.
