r/Star_Trek was a "free speech" Star Trek subreddit created by a moderator who was fed up with the rampant censorship and thought-policing on what's considered the official Star Trek subreddit.
r/Star_Trek grew rapidly after it's creation, expanding to thousands of users in a matter of months due in no small part to how many people were turned away from the primary Trek sub. The Underscored Country as it was colloquially known welcomed all views, from progressives to conservatives with most united by a shared dislike of the direction "nuTrek" had taken under the auspices of producer Bad Robot.
The sub allowed it's users to speak their minds regarding nuTrek's brand of identity politics which earned the ire of r/StarTrek's mods. They complained to admins, falsely accusing r/Star_Trek of brigading. They succeeded in getting the sub shut down for a few days. The admins only allowed it to reopen with their now standard restrictions of "no mentioning other subs or users, no crosslinking, etc." which is their usual first step before finding a reason to ban a sub entirely.
Weeks pass, Star_Trek breaks none of these rules. Yet, of course, the sub gets banned regardless with no warning. The reason? The moderator not clearing the mod queue. The mod's request for admins to tell him how to clear the queue went unanswered and the sub remains shuttered to this day.
