especially moe anime, for as long as I could remember anime has always been a predominantly male hobby, but now basically every woman I see is an anime fan

I consistently see biological woman (I'm SURE they are biological) be into stuff like k-on or lucky star, which felt super weird at first but made more sense the more I thought about it. moe shit just exists to be cute, and there's nothing women love doing more than gushing over cute shit

anime was never a male hobby lol. there were always plenty of anime aimed at chicks. Sailor Moon. Candy Candy. Ojamajo Doremi. I knew a lot of girls in high school who liked Inuyasha like crack. These weren't aimed at men. I think you mean it's weird seeing normoid women like anime.

another one that all the weeby girls at my school used to like was Hetalia. They wouldn't stop screeching about it and drawing it all over their homework. now anime is more mainstream though so conventionally attractive people and non awkward types like it too.
