especially moe anime, for as long as I could remember anime has always been a predominantly male hobby, but now basically every woman I see is an anime fan

I consistently see biological woman (I'm SURE they are biological) be into stuff like k-on or lucky star, which felt super weird at first but made more sense the more I thought about it. moe shit just exists to be cute, and there's nothing women love doing more than gushing over cute shit

>now

anime was never a male hobby lol. there were always plenty of anime aimed at chicks. Sailor Moon. Candy Candy. Ojamajo Doremi. I knew a lot of girls in high school who liked Inuyasha like crack. These weren't aimed at men. I think you mean it's weird seeing normoid women like anime.

True. I remember there was excessive fangirling on online anime communities in the 2000s.

lol I remember this with LiveJournal. a bunch of nerdy bitches making livejournals for Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy characters. Which isn't anime but anime-adjecent. They used to love that moody flippy haired guy.

I didn't mean that anime was first for girls. I think dorky losers both liked it in their own ways. But now it is so popular and mainstream, people who aren't complete autists like it too and are making rap videos about it like Megan Thee Stallion

another one that all the weeby girls at my school used to like was Hetalia. They wouldn't stop screeching about it and drawing it all over their homework. now anime is more mainstream though so conventionally attractive people and non awkward types like it too.

Literally WHERE. I know stupidly hot girls are into stuff that's less mainstream than Chainsaw Man or JJK but cute girls doing cute things still comes off as the ultimate pussy repellent. Possible exception being Bocchi, and that only after being saved from the AGP menace

Oh yeah I also now know more girls than guys into Monogatari, which would've sounded insane in 2009
