Perps were stupid to let him out of their sight to begin with, the best outcome for them as soon as he was free was the cops being outside when they were done cleaning the place out. On the flipside, unless the clerk was an owner of the shop and it was his pockets getting pilfered he should have just called the cops and let nature take it's course. From the bad guys (still stupid) perspective they'd just done this dude a solid by freeing him, probably thinking they were just there for the greens and this clerk didn't need to be caught up in a dangerous situation. From the clerks perspective he was also pretty stupid trying to play hero. What if the perps had on body armor? He would have been in a 4 on 1 gun fight that didn't need to happen plus he probably lost that job for being in jail for a year if not for killing people on the premises. Worked out in his favor in the end but there were a lot of ways it could not have.
