"Brother, may I have some oats?"
The wise swine is pleading the greedy swine for a share of oats. As it explains, the consumption of oats is a direct path into the abattoir and the sharing of oats between the two shall prevent any one of them from accumulating weight too quickly. Whether it is doing so in a sincere attempt to prolong the life of its brother, or whether it too is actually driven by greed, it is nevertheless doomed to be consumed as well. Despite being so knowledgeable of its destiny, the wise swine is no different in girth and the desire to consume oats standing next to its less experienced sibling. Both are extremely large and well fed swine. Both are close to approaching or perhaps have already approached the size and weight suitable to be made into food. Any given day the shadow of the butcher may appear over the pigpen floor, and withdrawing the slaughtering knife, take the life of any of these creatures. Whether or not the greedy swine shall share the oats, the future has already been predetermined for both of them. No knowledge may ever save them.
