The only realistic way to do mind uploading that wouldn't just make a copy of you is with the Moravec Transfer. The neurons in your brain would be gradually replaced, maintaining continuity.

Unless you subscribe to the model that all consciousnesses are shared.

If I take an atom out of your brain, (your brain loses/gains matter all the time, and neurons are created and die all the time, mind you. You brain also shrinks as you get older!) does your consciousness die and get replaced with a different one? Probably not. If that was the case your consciousness wouldn't last more than 0.0000001 seconds at a time.

What if I take that atom and I replace it with one of mine? How about I keep doing that until your brain is identical to what it was (like a ship of theseus!), but now your brain is 50% my former brain atoms, and my brain is 50% your atoms. The truth is it's all the same matter from the same universe. We're all the same consciousness but separated into different individuals so we can't even tell that it's the same universal consciousness.

If true, then it solves the Teletransportation paradox.
