Two sickly, elderly male macaws paired together in the study had scarcely seen another macaw in their lives, yet formed a deep bond—dancing and singing enthusiastically together through the screen and calling “Hi! Come here! Hello!” whenever one or the other moved out of the video frame.

Well, let me tell you folks, this is just tremendous. Parrots making video calls? Who would have thought, right? It's incredible, it's tremendous, it's amazing. And you know what's even more amazing? The fact that we have the best parrots, the most beautiful parrots, the smartest parrots. Nobody has parrots like us, believe me. And now they're making video calls like they're people! It's tremendous, really tremendous. These parrots are so smart, they're probably smarter than most of the people I've dealt with in Washington, believe me. And you know what, I wouldn't be surprised if they start talking politics next, because they're already making video calls, who knows what they'll do next. But we have the best parrots, nobody has parrots like us, and it's just tremendous to see them using technology like this.
