OK, immediate reaction after watching: That felt like I was watching a WB teen drama wearing a Star Trek skin suit. It was, essentially, an entire episode based around a tea party. We got a sci-fi element in the interdimensional aliens but with a naming convention that immediately invites incredulousness. The aliens are apparently named after colors.
We only meet Yellow and Blue though which leaves the question unanswered as to how the rest of the species is named, but... colors? There aren't enough colors to name every being in a civilization a color. Not unless they they have modifiers. Like is there an alien named like Cadmium Yellow? Phthalow Blue? Van Dyke Brown?? How stupid we getting here?
Also the infantilization of Spock continues. So Vulcan emotions are established as being far stronger than human emotions which is why they have to suppress them. So why come when Spock gets made human in this episode does he suddenly have trouble suppressing these much weaker human emotions? There's nothing biological about how Vulcans suppress their emotions, so even as a human Spock should have no problem maintaining control. But, then nuTrek writers have never let anything like consistency, logic or staying faithful to canon stop them from writing stupid things.
I'm starting to get really fed up with this show.
