hate to break it to you but that's how growth based companies work. It's called blitz scaling. You maximize the amount of users you can acquire (before anyone else can), then once you have the near-monopoly and there's little room for growth, that's when you monetize.

AI companies don't really care to make a profit right now. They just want to build out infrastructure to maximize growth.

Yes some are going to have to, since right now it's basically a race to dominate the market. Some competitors are either going to have to drop out/get acquired by rival companies.

But these are still enormously profitable companies. Google has enough capital to throw around like this for decades if they wanted to, for example. They made a net profit of 132 billion last year.
