It is impossible to have a debate on platforms such as Reddit due to everyone downvoting you if you say something that they don't like, causing the post to decrease in popularity. While karma systems are effective at reducing the visibility of low-quality posts, it does not make sense to use the same score to measure both quality and popularity. All karma does is create an echo chamber in which everyone has to agree with each other. Other forums have solved this issue by sorting posts by the number of responses and allowing users to react to individual posts with emojis.

Solution: make a subchan that disables comment upvoooting and problem solved
and force anon for good measure, since some will downvote you based on your other views and not the argument of your comment.
