When this song first came out I thought we were about to have another Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" moment. Thought it was about to be the birth of a new era of popular rock music. Alas corporate media was out of the rock n roll business by then except the last gasps of nu-metal. 24 years later and rock has still not had a mainstream come-back. This song is still awesome though.

I got introduced to relationship of command some three or four years ago. I have since listened to the whole album numerous times and have attempted to learn the lyrics of every song.

Oh yeah, had that album on heavy repeat when it came out. Was disappointed in their follow up albums in comparison though, still great musicianship but IMO they never recaptured the magic of Relationship of Command. Part of that was likely on purpose because they're the types to experiment with no attachment to any working formulas they develop, and partly due to line-up changes.

Which albums are you referring to? I thought that they broke up a year after releasing relationship of command. They reunited again around 2017 and released interalia, which in my opinion has a similar energy to relationship of command. After the breakup, some members went to form The Mars Volta whose songs might sound similar to something ATDI would release, so I fear that you might be confusing The Mars Volta with ATDI.

Should have written "with their follow ups" mainly Mars Volta but Sparta and the reunion album as well to my ears none of it had that spark from RoC. It's like they reached a sound with RoC that was a barely contained combination of all the stuff they'd then overindulge in with their later work.

>this is Necro btw, hit anon by mistake
