"Firelock 198X is a tabletop wargame about nuclear-age fantasy warfare. It attempts to recreate the broad strokes of Cold War-era military tactics with unearthly troops. It aims to provide authentic-feeling and fast-paced gameplay— supporting realistic tactics, but not straying into clunky simulationism. The current ruleset represents an alpha version of the game missing certain features such as fixed-wing air support or army abilities: it is, however, playtestable as-is.
"The game is designed first and foremost to be playable in the real world; it is the hope of the creator that you find it enjoyable to model, paint, and play. Virtual versions are also available through Tabletop Simulator (hereafter “TTS”) and MapTool. Playtesting, content creation, and game discussion is presently centered in the Stellar Jockeys Discord server.
"Always remember the first rule of wargaming is to have fun. If your opponent is resorting to strategies which have been designed not to have fun, but to win, it is your moral duty to deny his satisfaction. Pack up your army, shake your head, and then promptly kill him.
"At present, the game is a heavy work-in-progress. Rules and unit balance are frequently amended and TTS tokens’ attached profiles & statistics may not describe the actual performance of the unit until release 1.0. Whenever there exists a conflict, document rules take precedence.
"The creator expresses thanks to their playtesters and fellow spastic fantasy-militaria enthousiasts for their continued support and enjoyment of the game."
