Curious to see how common of an experience this is. In 3rd grade there was a kid in my grade who died from fatal burns in a housefire. I was too young to really process it at the time but looking back on it now really fucks me up. Found out later on it took him a couple days to die. Sad shit

There was this one girl in middle school who died of cancer
Not that I know of but the father of a kid I went to school with tried to hire a hitman to kill his mother. He didn't get one though, it didn't work out on account of the fact that someone else he tried to hire to kill her told the police about it instead of killing her. What's more interesting there is that the dad, the man who tried to hire the hit man claimed he took the money and agreed to kill her. Whereas the hitman/snitch claims he turned him down and did not take money from him. Anyways, the dad went to prison and nothing happened to the would be hitman/snitch.
In primary school, a girl about 2-3 years younger than me died of leukemia. We had an assembly dedicated to her where her parents were invited to speak and the school placed a memorial of her name within the playground. It kind of bought everyone together and looking bad was quite bittersweet.
sounds like 9/11

it's good you realized later on, atleast
no one died but there was this one kid i got along with very well in 5th grade, when we were both kind of outcasts
we used to obnoxiously sing ERB songs we had memorized
he had a rough home life & his grades were poor, eventually he dropped out after he got more depressed & teachers were getting mad at him
i still wonder what happened
must've been about 10 years ago
