>truck just slams right into it without braking

>massive heavy THUD I could clearly hear with the windows shut and radio on

>the bear's lifeless body goes careening across the road and into the ditch on the opposite side it came from

>traffic comes to a halt

>the people in the truck jump out almost immediately and one of them has a phone to his ear

>figure there is nothing I could even do

>gingerly drive past the truck and the whole fucked up scene really careful like another bear might fly outta the woods

>keep looking back in the mirror hoping somehow there could be a happy ending somehow maybe a dazed little bear poking his head up from the weeds

>no such luck

>mood in the vehicle totally shifts

>scenarios of poor mama bear looking for her lost cub start playing in my mind

Something about the brutal, animal reality of existence violently inserting itself into an otherwise perfect day really got to me.
