No, the entire point of being human is to feel feels.
take SSRI's and it'll make you emotionally numb, worst feeling ever
I took a pill to experience zero emotions...
I have no regrets!
no
No, it has happened to me for a while I think as a way to cope with the sadness I felt during a particular time of my life, and honestly it's kinda terrible.
That's terrible you don't want that.
It would have to include alienation, if at some deep level I realized that I was different from others and it made me sad, then it doesn't count. Also I can't feel annoyance at normies being normies. To be frank, I think the only way this could be possible is very severe mental retardation, but even then they have needs. Like is hunger an emotion? Its certainly uncomfortable. If I'm except from hunger and pain as well then it's more than just retardation, its probably closer to being dead. It's not clear where thought and intelligence ends and emotion begins...so I think I will pass. I gotta go back to that place anyways, not yet.
There is no feeling worse than no feeling
It is worse than death for the dead dont have the human reason to regret
>zero emotions for years at a time
>brief interlude of wild passionate sex
>pretend nothing ever happened, go back to being emotionless
this seems like a nice compromise to me
Yes, because I have hit a point in life were I feel more negative emotions then positive. I have no further use for suffering if there is no equal reward for enduring it
I keep saying I want to, but when I get the opportunity to destroy my emotions (taking SSRIs) I end up getting cold feet. Maybe I secretly like having emotions no matter how painful they are
I think it was some philosopher who said it, I dont recall who, but I remember Adam Lanza using his argument:
Life is suffering, suffering is life-affirming.
Lanza took "life is suffering" to heart, and shot up Sandy Hook.
I take "suffering is life affirming" to heart. This is what we were meant to do. Toil and work and suffer, the caveat is that there is always some respite- the work day ends, your savings provide for your family, your goals, or your comfort, you crest the mountain. But there is always another mountain. That's life!
If you had nothing to look forward to, why would you look forward?
In order for the light at the end of the tunnel to be valued and hopeful, you have to live in darkness for a bit.
