Do cats actually like you or is it just libshit behavior to love them?

to put it one way,

imagine you were shrunk down to the size of a rat

there's a chance that a good well-trained dog would remain loyal

there's a chance that a cat wouldn't see you as a small animal or something to play with/eat, but the chance is much smaller

i think cats have about half as many neurons as dogs iirc

a neglected/untrained cat is much more inoffensive than a neglected/untrained dog, but they're also very primal and have no sense of shame/loyalty, and can't be trained (beyond spraying them with water to keep them away from certain places)

My cats love me, or feel something very similar to love. Even if I go to check the mail, they'll wait at the door. None of them are food driven either. They'll follow me room to room and slow blink while they watch me paint minis or read. They just want to be near me, listen to me, and cuddle. I love them more than I love anything and anyone else, and that's what's important to me. They'll also take turns being the little spoon at night when we sleep.

My two cats call me mother and are total loyal to me.

My cats always run to me when I come back. One of them likes to receive rubs and head pats a bunch

They do genuinely like humans they imprint on. But being not nearly as intelligent it's not as complex or as expressive, hence why they'll perpetually beg for food when they actually want you to go out and hunt (hunting for another cat is their greatest expression of love).
