Void, Endeavour and Mint are my favorites, in that order.

Imagine not being able to access any website by using non-approved hardware, OS and web browser by a mega corp...

Imo the people that judge the entire site based on the name you don't want them in your site anyway, but even if you change it I wouldn't care that much as long as it wasn't something completely stupid and even if I find the new name completely stupid I would still participate in it.

I like video games because they are fun and provide me with a place that I can escape from my shitty life especially RPGs.

What I strongly dislike, sometimes even to the point of disgust, is the monetization that keeps getting worse and worse even in single player games. I understand that the developers need to make money but for years now most if not all big companies and a lot of smaller ones implement worse and worse monetization practices and some of them are so exploitive that immediately turn me off the game. And the worse thing is that a lot of people keep paying for those games... I could write a lot more about my hatred for todays monetization practices but I will stop here.

For me the ideal game will be a well optimized MMO that has a massive world or even multiple worlds that actually feel like living breathing worlds with NPCs that have their own life like predators hunting prey animals prey animals grazing and run away from predators humanoid NPCs that have their habits, work and their routine. It also needs to have fun mechanics that they are not there to just keep you playing and paying but only to provide you with goals and fun and also gives the players the tools to also make their own goals, fun and story.

So something like a sandpark game where you have some sandbox and some themepark elements tied together in beautiful world and a story that makes sense and doesn't treat every single player in the game like the chosen one but let's each player to chose their own path.

There were a few game that come little bit closer to that ideal but either they do not exists anymore or they eventually took a very different path.

So what about you OP ? You asked the question but you never answered it yourself.

As the others mentioned the main reasons are probably that it's too small and slow compared to the decentralized alternatives and the chan in the name scares away some people.

IMO not every place need to be huge as long as it has enough people that create some interesting content and its self sustaining, I think it's enough. Granted mainchan has still a long way to go.

Won't that make people downvote the top ones or anyone that is above them to be able to pass them easier ?

Well, it doesn't really matter in the end because reddit has a huge userbase and most of it doesn't really care about it, they only want to be able to visit their coomer subreddits and their echochambers no matter what. The only way to really hurt reddit you need a large amount of content and content creators to move elsewhere but I do not think something like that will ever happen.

Imo if the mods instead of protesting by "privating" their subreddits were to start to slow down or even stopping completely the moderation of their subreddits it would be a more effective protest.

However the way that a lot of the mods caved in after they threaten to take their minuscule power away is pretty funny.
